The Killer Of An Entrepreneur Couple In Tulungagung Sentenced To 14 Years In Prison, Victim's Family Goes Raging
TULUNGAGUNG - The panel of judges at the District Court of Tulungagung Regency, East Java, sentenced the convict Edi Purwanto alias Glowoh to be legally and convincingly proven to have killed the husband and wife of the swimming pool entrepreneur, Tri Suharno and Ning Rahayu.
"Declaring that the defendant Purwanto alias Glowoh is legally and convincingly proven guilty of committing a criminal act of murder as a subsidiary indictment. Sentencing Edi Purwanto to imprisonment for 14 years," said Judge Nanangdilansir ANTARA, Wednesday, February 28.
The verdict itself was colored by differences of attitude / views between the three judges who tried the case.
The judge's decision was much lighter than the primary death penalty indictment filed by the prosecutor.
The decision-making process in the trial was colored by differences of opinion or dissenting opinion between the panel of judges.
The chairman of the panel of judges and first member judges argued that Article 340 or premeditated murder applied in the prosecutor's primary indictment was not fulfilled, while the judges of two members had different opinions and stated that the elements of premeditated murder had been fulfilled.

One of the elements of premeditated murder mentioned by the second member judge was evidence of rubber straps and pieces of sandals that the defendant brought from home. The evidence was then used as a tool to bind and pave the two victims.
The trial was boisterous because the victim's family did not accept the judge's verdict which was considered too light. The victim's family, Gustama, felt that the judge's decision was unfair.
Gustama had vented his emotions in the courtyard of the Tulungagung District Court after the trial decision.
"Cook (removing) two lives is only 14 years old," said Gustama in a furious tone.
Gustama even likened Glowoh's sentence to punishment for the thief. Whereas Glowoh should have been sentenced to death according to the prosecutor's demands.
