BRIN Calls Crocodile Conflict With NTT Residents Turns Out To Come From Australian Waters

JAKARTA - The National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN) said crocodiles in Australia entered the waters of East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) Indonesia and had a conflict with the people in NTT.

"The suggestion of crocodiles in conflict in NTT yesterday came from Australia," said BRIN Senior Herpetologist Hellen Kurniati when speaking at a public discussion of the conflict between crocodiles and humans in the Bangka Belitung Islands Province (Babel) online in Pangkalpinang, Wednesday, February 28, which was confiscated by Antara.

He said that in overcoming the conflict between crocodiles and humans in NTT, various ways have been carried out, including evacuating estuarine crocodiles that are in conflict with the community to the BKSD Crocodile Breeder and they are also overwhelmed by the crocodile food.

In the end, the local government in NTT investigated the origin of the crocodile in the conflict, he said, because this crocodile came from the sea. The results of the investigation turned out that the crocodile came from Australia.

"We are grateful, finally the Australian Government helped the local government in NTT evacuate the conflict crocodile," he said.

According to him, between humans and crocodiles is not destined to live together and someone must give in. If no one gives in, there will continue to be conflicts between humans and crocodiles.

"The conflict between humans and crocodiles has occurred everywhere and finally I handled the conflict between crocodiles and humans in NTT," he said.

He stated that the conflict between crocodiles and humans was due to the crocodile's behavior and various efforts had to be made to minimize conflicts with these crocodiles.

"One way to prevent this conflict is to evacuate these conflict crocodiles," he said.
