Can Cause Anxiety, PKS KUA Value Can Serve All Religions Not Relevant

JAKARTA - Member of Commission VIII DPR RI from the PKS faction, Hidayat Nur Wahid (HNW) assessed that the plan to make the Office of Religious Affairs (KUA) able to serve the marriage of all religions proposed by the Minister of Religion Yaqut Cholil Qoumas is irrelevant.

The reason is, changes in regulations related to recording non-Muslim marriages at the KUA have never been discussed by the Ministry of Religion together with Commission VIII of the DPR RI. One of them is related to the position of KUA which is no longer under the Directorate General of Islamic Guidance, if assigned to record marriages of all religions. Because if it is still under the Islamic Community Guidance, HNW questions the relevance of recording non-Muslim marriages.

"Will non-Muslims also accept their marriage records in institutions under the Directorate General of Islamic Guidance? Commission VIII of the Indonesian House of Representatives will also accept anything that is historical and instead of being a solution, it can actually cause a lot of unrest and disharmony?," said HNW in his statement to reporters, Tuesday, February 27.

Apart from being irrelevant, the Deputy Chairperson of the MPR also considered that the policy proposed by Minister of Religion Yaqut would also be even more burdensome for the KUA. Where most of them will experience a shortage of human resources and do not have their own offices.

The proposal, said HNW, will also burden non-Muslims who are getting married. Because according to him, the end of marriage registration is in the Capil Service, which will later be integrated with NIK and KTP. If you have to go to KUA first, there will be additional procedures. One more thing, he added, KUA is also identical to Muslims. So according to HNW, it will cause psychological and ideological burdens for non-Muslims if they have to take care of their marriage to KUA.

"In the midst of the phenomenon of many adulterys and other cases of sexual deviation, the government should facilitate marriage according to the Marriage Law. Both through improving services, downsizing administrative requirements, fulfilling the rights of the KUA. Not only changing the rules that not only complicate the performance of the KUA, increasing the procedural burden, but also psychological and ideological burdens in the non-Muslim community," said the PKS legislator for the DKI Jakarta electoral district.

Therefore, HNW said, the PKS faction encourages Minister of Religion Yaqut to focus more on maximizing the role of Islamic Guidance, especially the KUA. Because according to him, in Bimas Islam itself, especially related to the KUA, there are still many problems that have not been resolved.

For example, the problem of penghulu shortages, office ownership, and revitalization of buildings and services, as well as maximizing the role and function of religious instructors, including those related to pre-wedding consultations.

"The Minister of Religion should focus on finding solutions to problems that are the domain of Islamic Guidance. It is not just offside directing Islamic Guidance to take care of other religions, such as making KUA a place for recording religious marriages other than Islam as well, even though KUA is an institution under the Director General of Islamic Guidance, which is not in line with the rules. governance of the Ministry of Religion's organization," he concluded.
