Regional Secretary: Investment In Central Java In 2023 Increases 12.56 Percent
JAKARTA - Central Java Regional Secretary Sumarno said the investment value in the region throughout 2023 recorded an increase of 12.56 percent compared to 2022.
"Investment in Central Java is one of the means to improve the welfare of the people of Central Java," said Sumarno when opening the Central Java Investment Achievement Evaluation Meeting, in Semarang, quoted from Antara, Monday, February 26.
In 2023, he said, investment was recorded at IDR 77.02 trillion, with the level of employment reaching 280,643 people, while in 2022 it reached IDR 68.41 trillion.
Sumarno said that attracting investors is an effective way to solve the problem of unemployment and poverty in Central Java.
Therefore, he said, provincial and district/city governments are asked to provide good infrastructure, provide excellent, fast, easy, and cheap services, and not complicate or become a portal for investors.
Meanwhile, Head of the Central Java Investment and One Stop Integrated Service (DPM-PTSP) Sakina Rosellasari said that the realization of investment in Central Java came from foreign investment (PMA), domestic investment (PMDN), and micro and small businesses (UMK).
So far, he said, the realization of PMA investment is still dominated by labor-intensive sectors, with industries that absorb a lot of labor including the footwear, garment, textiles, and finished clothing industries.
Meanwhile, PMDN, he said, includes transportation, warehouses, and industrial estate offices.
Along with this investment, the increase in employment in 2023 was quite significant from the previous year, from 215,775 people in 2022 to 280,643 people in 2023.
