Carbon Offset Implementation Trend Increases In Grab
Grab, a solution provider service, shares the latest trends on its platform. Delivered by GrabAds, environmentally friendly practices such as Carbon Offset are starting to be implemented by brands on Grab.
Melinda Savitri,Country Marketing HeadGrab Indonesia, said that the trend of implementing Carbon Offset has been increasingly prominent since 2022. Interestingly, consumers support this effort. This can be seen from the consumer's decision to buy.
"One of the prominent trends is the increasingly important sustainable and environmentally friendly practices that are starting to attract the attention of people from various age groups. Consumers are increasingly supporting thebrand-brand which shows responsibility for the environment," Melinda told VOI.
Based on Grab's internal data, the implementation of Carbon Offset has almost doubled from 2022 to 2023. This application also benefits entrepreneurs because 97 percent of consumers preferbrands that carry out sustainable practice.
To encourage sustainable practice, Melinda provides several suggestions that can be applied bybrand owners and business people. They can minimize the use of plastic packaging and use environmentally friendly packaging.

Melinda also advises business people to listen more to consumer needs. If additional eating utensils or other equipment are not needed by consumers, these equipment can be reduced to reduce waste.
Although 36 percent of Grab users in Indonesia are willing to pay more for reduced equipment, these sustainability steps are very good to implement. According to Melinda, the implementation of this sustainable practice will increase a sense of competitiveness.
"By taking these steps,brand not only contributes to the positive impact on the environment, but also positions themselves well in the eyes of consumers who are increasingly prioritizing sustainability in their choices," Melinda said.
