Kimera EVO38: The Newer Evolution Of The Legend

JAKARTA - Kimera Automobile, creator of the Kimera Evo 37 sports car, which was released in 2021 as a tribute to Lancia Rally 037, has now launched its newest creation, EVO38.

As a previous model update, Kimera refreshes this retro sports car with greater power, a standard all-wheel drive system, and fine-style refresher.

Unlike the 037, which is equipped with a rear wheel drive, EVO38 distributes power to all four wheels through an advanced driving system consisting of an electro-hydrolic differential key. Similar to the system found in the previous WRC car, drivers can calibrate differentials from the cabin, allowing them to adjust their driving experience according to their wishes.

Reporting from CarBuzz, February 23, by playing around with the distribution of traction between front and rear wheels, the car can be regulated for various situations. For example, when on the road turns narrow and damp, the power can be distributed evenly.

The Italian manufacturer has also repaired the suspension, installed motorized shock damping and a new system to prevent scratches on the lower bumper. Front shock dampers are modern and conventional items. However, at the back, it can find the same layout as before: a centrally positioned shock damping with a double-side spring - a spectacular feature of the Group B rally car from the 1980s.

Under the engine hood, there is also an increase. The 2.1 liter engine, four turbocharged cylinders, and a supercharged cylinder, now produces 600 hp, an increase of 100 hp from EVO37. The torque rate is at 580 Nm, of which 400 Nm is available at 2,000 rpm.

These improvements have been achieved through a variety of improvements, including larger turbochargers, valves, camshafts, and new springs, as well as electronically controlled blow-off valves. As a choice, Kimera can provide a dedicated exhaust for larger noise, but no increase in power has been recorded.

This car also features a six-speed manual transmission with a ratio shorter than the EVO37 so that this latest model is more suitable for use on mixed roads and not circuits. While consumers who want to be different, can be equipped with electrically driven sequencing transmission.

For car stability, Kimera maintains a car weight of about 1 ton, which is almost the same as RWD EVO37 so that its staff is equivalent to Ferrari Roma and Mazda MX-5 Miata.

This car will be produced limited to 37 units and the price per unit is not stated. In comparison, the basic 037 price released in 2021, before tax is 540,000 euros equivalent to IDR 9.1 billion today.
