Budget Telan Rp2 Trillion, This Is A Various Benefits Of Lolak Dam In North Sulawesi

JAKARTA - The Lolak Dam, located in Bolaang Mongondow Regency, North Sulawesi Province, was inaugurated by President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) today.

The budget for the construction of the dam reaches around Rp. 2 trillion.

Director General of Water Resources of the Ministry of PUPR Bob Arthur Lombgia said the Lolak Dam has various benefits.

"One of them is as a raw water source for Lolak District of 500 liters per second. For clean water supply, we have built an intake and transmission pipeline to Lolak Water Processing Installation (IPA) for 10 km," said Bob in his written statement, Friday, February 23.

As for the irrigation benefits of 2,200 hectares (ha), Bob said that it will be channeled through two dams, namely through the Lolak Atas Dam which has the potential for irrigation of 1,300 ha and in the downstream there is an existing dam, namely the Lolak Dam with an irrigation area of 900 ha.

"Before there was a dam, the Planting Index (IP) was only 120 percent. After the Lolak Dam, IP could rise to 250 percent," he said.

In the downstream area of the dam, Bob said there was a Trans Sulawesi Road. So that with this dam can avoid flooding on Jalan Trans Sulawesi.

"This Lolak Dam functions to reduce flooding, approximately 29.42 percent or reduce around 209 ha of areas that are usually flooded," he said.

Lolak Dam will also function as a hydroelectric power plant with an energy potential of 2.43 MW.

"Not only that, the Lolak Dam will also become a destination for new tourism sites in the Bolaang Mongondow area and ex-ex-ex-excavation land that can be used into productive fruit forests," he added.

For your information, the dam has been built by the Ministry of PUPR since 2015 and completed in 2023.
