The Head Of Bawaslu Said About Ganjar Selecting The Right To Investigate The Fraud Of The Presidential Election

Chairman of the Election Supervisory Body (Bawaslu) Rahmat Bagja invites if the DPR will issue an inquiry right related to violations of the 2024 General Election (Pemilu).

The proposal for the right of inquiry was submitted by presidential candidate number 3 Ganjar Pranowo to reveal indications of fraud in the 2024 General Election.

"Yes, go ahead. In the political system mechanism, we cannot judge that. We are not in that framework. Political parties must have their own perspective," said Bagja as quoted by ANTARA, Thursday, February 22.

As one of the election organizers, he said the function of Bawaslu was only to follow up on violations in accordance with Law (UU) Number 7 of 2017 concerning General Elections. In fact, based on the law, Bawaslu has no right to comment on the initiative to apply for the right to inquiry.

"Following up on the violation, yes, but if later this is brought into the mechanism of the House of Representatives, yes, that is the authority of the House of Representatives, not in Bawaslu," he explained.

According to Bagja, currently Bawaslu is focusing on preparing and supervising the vote count recapitulation process.

Bawaslu has received 962 reports and 465 findings during the 2024 General Election. Currently, he continued, Bawaslu has registered 387 reports and 396 findings.

"Currently, 100 cases are still in the process of handling violations. Then, 408 cases have been designated as violations and 278 cases declared not as violations," said Bagja.

Then, there were 26 administrative violations, 14 alleged election crimes, 232 violations of the code of ethics, and 95 other violations of the law.

Meanwhile, regarding the violation at the campaign stage, Bagja admitted that he had received 297 reports and 165 findings. As for the handling of campaign stage violations, 84 cases are still in the process of being handled, 75 cases have been declared as violations, and 86 cases have not been declared as violations.

Violations at the campaign stage, consisting of 1 administrative violation, 17 alleged election crimes, 20 violations of the code of ethics, and 38 other violations of the law.
