Manggarai Station Escalator Makes Passengers Fall, KAI Commuter Apologizes
JAKARTA - PT Kereta Commuter Indonesia (KCI) or KAI Commuter opened its voice regarding the escalator incident at Manggarai Station, which initially stopped suddenly moving and caused passengers to fall.
External Relations & Corporate Image Care KAI Commuter Leza Arlan said the incident began at one of the escalators at the hall on the 1st floor leading to platform 11-12 Manggarai Station which normally points upward towards the platform suddenly moving back to the bottom.
Leza said the incident made several users who were at the escalator at that time fall towards the platform
"KAI Commuter apologizes for the problem of Commuter Line user service at Manggarai Station on Wednesday, February 21, 2024 yesterday afternoon at around 18.06 WIB," he said in an official statement, Thursday, February 22.
Leza also stressed that the incident did not cause any casualties, security officers guarding the vicinity of the escalator swiftly helped the fallen user.

"In order not to do the same thing, KAI Commuter closed the escalator and coordinated with DJKA, in this case, the Jakarta Class 1 Railway Engineering Center (BTP) for inspection and repair of the escalator," he said.
In addition to the escalator and elevator facilities that are intended for priority users when heading to platforms 11 and 12 at Manggarai Station, said Leza, manual ladder facilities are also available on the south side and in the middle of the station's 1st floor hall.
"KAI Commuter invites users who are still able to use manual stairs to use them when going to the platform or vice versa," he explained.
Leza said KAI Commuter also appealed to always prioritize safety by always following directions and information from officers at the station.
