MAKI Will Re-submit Pretrial For Harun Masiku's Case

JAKARTA - The Indonesian Anti-Corruption Society (MAKI) will file a pretrial against the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) regarding the handling of the Harun Masiku case.

"We promise that at least two weeks and a maximum of one month in the future we will file a new lawsuit," said MAKI Coordinator Boyamin Saiman as quoted by ANTARA, Wednesday, February 21.

Boyamin said that the pretrial against the KPK regarding the handling of the Harun Masikum case was an attempt so that the suspect suspected of giving gifts or promises could be tried.

According to him, the Harun Masiku case has been protracted and until now the suspect has not been arrested and his whereabouts are known.

Therefore, his party will again file a pretrial against the KPK, but using the argument as in the Century Bank case.

"With the consideration that we have won here in the Century case, which means that there has been a secret termination. Yesterday we haven't included it because this is the first lawsuit and this is a warm-up," he said.

South Jakarta District Court Sole Judge Abu Hanifah rejected all pretrial applications submitted by MAKI against the KPK regarding the handling of the Harun Masiku case.

"It was completely rejected and all costs were charged to the applicants," said South Jakarta District Court (PN) Sole Judge Abu Hanifah when reading the pretrial application decision submitted by MAKI.

MAKI stated that the pretrial application against the KPK with the demand that the suspect in the alleged corruption case Harun Masiku be tried "in absentia" is an effort to eradicate corruption.

The trial was "in absence", namely the process of a trial that was not attended by the defendant in a criminal event case.

Harun Masiku was named by the KPK as a suspect in the case of alleged gift giving or promises to state officials regarding the appointment of candidates for members of the DPR RI elected for the 2019-2024 period at the KPU RI.

However, Harun Masiku has always been absent from the summons of KPK investigators to be included in the wanted list (DPO) since January 17, 2020.
