Wants To Meet Mahfud, Hadi Tjahjanto: Please Direct What Problems Have Not Been Resolved

Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs (Menko Polhukam) Hadi Tjahjanto explained the reason he wanted to meet Mahfud as the former Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs who previously served.

Hadi admitted that he wanted to ask Mahfud for directions regarding the tasks of the Coordinating Ministry for Political, Legal and Security Affairs which had not been completed during the 2019-2024 period.

"To meet Prof Mahfud, of course. Because as easterners, of course we have to stay in touch with the previous leader, ask for directions, what are the problems that have not been resolved," said Hadi at the Coordinating Ministry for Political, Legal and Security Affairs Office, Central Jakarta, Wednesday, February 21.

Hadi hopes that he can complete the task of the Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs which has not been completed in the remaining term of office which is only 8 months before the inauguration of the next President of the Republic of Indonesia.

"We will continue it later even though the time is only 8 months. But I will work fully to be able to solve these problems," explained Hadi.

Today, President Joko Widodo inaugurated Hadi as Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs at the State Palace. The inauguration of Hadi and AHY was carried out simultaneously in accordance with Presidential Decree Number 34 P of 2024 concerning the Dismissal and Appointment of State Ministers of the Advanced Indonesia Cabinet for the 2019-2024 Period, which was determined by President Joko Widodo in Jakarta, February 20, 2024.

Previously, Hadi Tjahjanto was the minister of ATR/Head of BPN since June 2022. Hadi is also a former TNI commander who served in the 2017-2021 period.

Hadi replaced the position of Acting Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs Tito Karnavian who filled the temporary position, after Mahfud MD resigned as Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs since early February.

When he resigned from the Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs, Mahfud briefly described a note regarding the duties of the Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs who needed to be continued by his successor to Jokowi. First, the Task Force for Handling State Collection Rights for the Bank Indonesia Liquidity Assistance Fund (BLBI Task Force) must continue to work to collect state rights on the remaining debt from BLBI obligors.

Then, regarding past gross human rights violations whose legal settlement has not yet been completed. "The settlement of past gross human rights violations is 12. It is legally very difficult, he will have the law running. Later, the government or the Coordinating Ministry for Political, Legal and Security Affairs will discuss it," said Mahfud at the office of the Coordinating Ministry for Political, Legal and Security Affairs, Central Jakarta, Thursday, February 1.

The third is about the Draft Law which will be revised again at the initiative of the DPR. Mahfud emphasized that he as Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs is holding back the process of discussing the revision of the Constitutional Court Law.

"I said, 'Mr President, I don't agree and I will stop the discussion because the transitional rules are unfair to the judges who exist today," explained the former Chief Justice of the Constitutional Court.
