OIKN: IKN Development Will Contribute To The Achievements Of Indonesian SDGs
JAKARTA - Head of the Archipelago Capital Authority (OIKN) Bambang Susantono said that as part of his commitment to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) or sustainable development goals, Indonesia has proposed three things for the Voluntary National Review (VNR) or the Voluntary National Review, namely 2017, 2019 and 2021.
When delivering the "country's statement" on the agenda of the Asia-Pacific Forum on Sustainable Development (APFSD) or the 11th Sustainable Development Forum, at the United Nations Conference Center, Bangkok, Thailand, Wednesday, February 21, the Head of OIKN as well as the Chairman of the Indonesian Delegation for the 11th APFSD, emphasized Indonesia's commitment to achieving the SDGs.
He also stated that to ensure effective localization of SDGs, his party had encouraged local governments to mainstream the 2030 Agenda in planning development and handing over Voluntary Local Review (VLR) or the Sukarela Local Review.
He said, since 2021, there are two local governments in Indonesia that have submitted VLR applications, and six others are in the process of formulating VLR.
Bambang, as reported by Antara, emphasized that OIKN has entered the process of handing over VLR to the new capital city of Indonesia, Nusantara, which is specifically designed as a green, smart, inclusive and sustainable city. The development of the archipelago will contribute to the achievement of SDGs in Indonesia, especially for the region and the people around the city.
He also stated that for Indonesia, the preparation of such a Voluntary Review is an opportunity to assess the progress of Indonesian SDGs and also to share experiences with the global community.
Bambang also highlighted two lessons during the process. First, the importance of multi-party partnerships in achieving the SDGs. Because SDGs can only be achieved if all stakeholders are actively involved, including the government and all non-state actors, such as the private sector, civil society and development partners. For this reason, his party encourages multi-party cooperation.

Second, regarding the need to localize SDGs. According to him, by localizing SDGs, not only synchronizing the global and national agenda, but also providing a way for local governments to support the achievement of SDGs through an upper and upper approach.
SDGs also provide a strategic framework for local governments to progress sustainable development. In this case, Indonesia has also localized SDGs down to the village level.
Furthermore, OIKN will launch a preliminary launch of the Nusantara VLR which will be held tomorrow Thursday, February 23, at UNCC, Bangkok, Thailand.
