The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) Has Opportunity To Snatch Corporate Suspects In The North Maluku Governor's Bribery Case

JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has the opportunity to ensnare a company suspected of bribing the inactive North Maluku Governor Abdul Gani Kasuba for mining business permits. Evidence is currently being sought by investigators.

"It is very possible when later the facts are obtained from the investigation process, it leads to not only the actions of individuals, but the actions of a corporate decision, for example in the alleged bribery. Now we are investigating it," said the Head of the KPK News Section Ali Fikri to reporters quoted on Wednesday, February 21.

The gift aimed at smoothing the process of issuing the mining business license was revealed when investigators ensnared Abdul Gani to the External Director of PT Trimegah Bangun Persada, Tbk. Stevi Thomas.

The company is a subsidiary of Harita Group, the largest nickel mining company in North Maluku.

Returning to Ali, he believes that if the KPK has sufficient evidence, ensnaring corporations as corruption suspects is easy. "There are many examples that have been decided by the court that have been handled by us," he said.

"Then the judge (in this case, ed) agreed that as the subject of the perpetrator of the corruption was a corporation as long as the facts could be found," continued Ali.

However, the KPK is still closing the company's meeting. This is because investigations are still being carried out and are included in the subject matter of the case.

"Actually, friends should have been able to read when we conveyed who the witnesses had been presented, what was the material in general. If the question is so determined that the substance of the case is ongoing, of course we cannot convey it," he concluded.
