Manchester United Interested In Signing And Ashworth For The Position Of Director Of Sports
JAKARTA - And Ashworth told Newcastle United about Manchester United's interest in recruiting him.
The Magpies Director of Operations is at the top of Sir Jim Radcliffe's list to lead operations at Old Trafford.
Although there has been no official contact between the two clubs, Newcastle is preparing a compensation value that the Red Devils will have to pay if they hijack Ashworth.
The Magpies have yet to say the exact figure, but it is estimated that the amount could reach more than 10 million pounds.
That figure is already considering Ashworth's contract compensation with Newcastle. So, Man United can earn his services and start working ahead of the summer transfer window or the end of this season.
Meanwhile, Darren Eales, CEO of Newcastle United, admitted that he was disappointed that Ashworth really left.

"We are of course disappointed because Dan chose to leave. However, our exciting journey did not stop and the recruitment process for the new sporting director will begin soon."
"We thank And for his efforts at Newcastle United. We wish him all the best for the future of him and his family," said Eales on Newcastle's official website.
Two years ago, Ashworth joined Newcastle from Brighton. The Magpies also paid a lot of compensation to get it.
Now, he has attracted the interest of Manchester United's new minority shareholder, Sir Jim Radcliffe. Ashworth is INEOS' main target to become sporting director.
However, the intention of the new owner of Man United to get conflict from the legend of the Red Devils, Philip Neville. According to him, Manchester United must be careful in bringing in Ashworth.
The former Red Devils player and pundit English football even said that at least the club could spend around 100 million pounds on Ashworth's services in the wrong step.
"Can Man Utd spend more money getting Ashworth now? If it's the sporting director they want, they want him to get started soon."
"He will have limitations not to be able to work at other clubs in the same position for 12 months. I'm sure of that."
"Man Utd may say they can't wait that long, so they will pay for it. It's very important for Man Utd to get someone before the next transfer window."
"If you don't pay 10 million pounds to remove Ashworth and you make the wrong transfer window, you can spend another 100 million. So it's important for them to bring in the right people."
"What Man Utd needs to do is stop rot. When Man Utd calls any club in Europe, they will come here, we will play and get paid a lot of money."
"Ashworth wouldn't let that happen. He's pretty tough and measurable in such a situation," Neville said at Sky Sports.
So far, Ashworth has not agreed to interest from Manchester United. He took time off from Newcastle to consider his decision.
