22 Water Pump Units Deployed To Handle Demak Floods

DEMAK - Minister of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) Basuki Hadimuljono again reviewed the floods that inundated Demak, Central Java.

During his visit, the Minister of PUPR deployed 22 units of water pump trucks from DKI Jakarta, West Java to a number of areas in Central Java/DIY to maximize the extraction of flood water in settlements to the northern coast road so that they could be passed again.

This was said by the Minister of PUPR Basuki Hadimuljono for a moment to directly inspect the flood-affected locations in Karanganyar Village, Karanganyar District, Demak Regency, Central Java on Thursday afternoon.

By directly heading to the location of the suction point for puddles, Basuki said that in overcoming flooding in the area, his party maximized as much water pump trucks as possible to be deployed in Demak so that flooding immediately receded.

Basuki said that initially 12 units were now being added to reach 22 units of water posa trucks from DKI Jakarta, West Java, to Central Java/DIY.

"The puddles in the village are at the pump, the 22 pumps are from Solo from Cirebon, from Jakarta we brought them here yesterday, 12 now, the total is 22," said the Minister of PUPR in his statement, Friday, February 16.

He explained, of the 22 units of water posa trucks from various capacities that were deployed, where puddles of water were pumped and dumped into the Wulan River were around 11,500 liters per second. "22 has a total of 11.5 cubic meters per second, 11,500 liters per second," he said.

Basuki hopes that with a maximum of 22 units of floodwater pump trucks located in settlements in a number of villages in Karanganyar District, it can immediately recede for about 2 to 3 days.

Not only that, the national road connecting Demak - Kudus and vice versa can be passed again by road users after being paralyzed for more than a week.
