OIKN Plans To Add MSME Outlets In The IKN Area In March 2024

JAKARTA - Secretary of the Capital Archipelago Authority (OIKN) Jaka Santos revealed plans to add 20 new Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) outlets in the Nusantara Capital (IKN) area in March 2024.

Currently, in the IKN Construction Worker Residential Area (HPK), 20 MSME outlets have been established which are quite crowded with construction workers and IKN office staff to eat or just release fatigue.

"Those who have opened and are active in 20 stalls (MSMEs), we plan to open March to add another 20 MSME stalls," said Jaka in the capital city of Nusantara, quoted from Antara, Tuesday, February 13.

The series of MSME outlets located in the HPK canteen were observed to be the most visited during rest hours. Many construction workers or IKN office staff visited MSME outlets for lunch.

Jaka explained that the provision of a canteen consisting of many food MSME outlets is one of the efforts of OIKN to empower MSMEs in the IKN area. The development of MSMEs as OIKN partners is one of the agendas of the authority to encourage business continuity in the IKN area.

"So that people who move here (IKN) can live in a complete urban community, in terms of ecosystems, they already exist for schools, hospitals, socio-cultural infrastructure and others," said Jaka.

Dina, one of the sellers at the MSME outlet, admitted that at night the MSME outlets were also still crowded with workers. Some MSMEs are open from 06.00 WITA to 00.00 WITA.

In a day, Dina on average can pocket a turnover of IDR 3-5 million, depending on whether or not the canteen is crowded.

"The average turnover is IDR 5 million, if it's quiet at most IDR 3 million. What's crowded is usually at night, many workers hang out here (canteens)," he explained.
