Chinese New Year Celebration, Vice President Alludes To Shame In Taking Unsuitable Actions In Norms And Ethics
JAKARTA - Vice President (Vice President) Ma'ruf Amin appreciated the theme of the 2575 Kongzili Chinese New Year National Celebration held at Samudera Hall, Jakarta.
The vice president in his remarks online at the event said the theme "If you Don't Know Shame, Make People Unsung Malu" stipulated in the Chinese New Year national celebration, have the spirit of renewing yourself and full of meaning.
"I think this theme is full of meaning, both in the context of reflection of relationships between individuals and their Gods, as well as among each other in the dynamics of the life of the nation and state," said Vice President Ma'rf Amin in his remarks online reported by ANTARA, Monday, February 12.
The Vice President conveyed that shame is a fundamental property for the realization of goodness, as well as to create a distance from evil. A person who has shame, he said, will be afraid to take actions that are not in accordance with norms, values, and ethics.
"Thus he will not do anything that hurts him," said the Vice President.
The vice president said in Islamic teachings, Prophet Muhammad Shalallahu Alaihi Wassalam (SAW) also said 'If you are not ashamed, do your best.' According to him, it is meaningful, shame as a factor that can keep a person away from disgraceful acts and encourage him to do good.
Meanwhile, in the eastern philosophy, the culture of shame owned by the people of the archipelago is actually a noble value that has been embedded for generations. However, it is known that a culture of shame can fade, along with the stronger pressure from the times that obscures the standards of ethics and morals of society," said the Vice President. Therefore, said the Vice President, all religious leaders, including Confucian religious leaders, have an important role in cultivating shame among the people.
