Minister Of Industry Agus Appreciates Indonesia's Automotive Modifiers Who Fight At Japan's Modified Exhibition

Minister of Industry (Menperin) Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita appreciated the local automotive modifier, namely the National Modifier & Aftermarket Association (NMAA) which enlivened the Osaka Auto Messe (OAM) modification exhibition in Japan on February 10-12, 2024.

In addition to showing creativity and innovation by the nation's children, the participation of local modification industry players in the international arena also carries a mission to introduce Indonesian culture.

"I am very optimistic that the goals of Indonesian modifiers to appear in this prestigious event will play an important role in accelerating the growth of the modified automotive industry in the country," said Minister of Industry Agus in a written statement received by VOI, Monday, February 12.

Agus said the automotive modification industry sector had provided added value and a multiplier effect on the development of the domestic aftermarket vehicle component industry, especially on a scale of small and medium industries (IKM).

"It also has an impact on increasing national vehicle sales. Moreover, the modified industry is a sector that has proven to be able to create quite a lot of jobs. So, of course, it can stimulate the national economy," he said.

In an effort to support the development of this industry, the Ministry of Industry initiated the issuance of the Indonesian National Work Competency Standard (SKKNI) for the Modified Vehicle Industry and compiled a Competency-Based Training Program for the Modified Industry.

Director General of Metal, Machinery, Transportation Equipment and Electronics (ILMATE) Taufiek Bawazier assessed that this is necessary to improve the competence of competent modification industry human resources, both aspects of knowledge, skills and expertise as well as work attitudes relevant to their duties.

Taufiek hopes that NMAA as a modified industry association can become a Professional Certification Institute (LSP) for motor vehicle modification industry services and become a forum for business actors who convert electric vehicles to support the Indonesia Clean program through the use of electric vehicles.

"We challenge the modifiers to support the creation of low-emission or electric vehicle (EV)-based vehicles as a tangible manifestation of accelerating the reduction in greenhouse gas emissions," he said.

On the same occasion, NMAA Founder Andre Mulyadi said that the effort to bring local aftermarket products in OAM 2024 was NMAA's idea to strengthen collaboration with strategic partners in the modification industry in Japan.

"The good relations of modified industry activists from these two countries will welcome various challenges in the future, including knowledge sharing, experience to finding business opportunities," he said.

Carrying out the "Saber Great of Indonesia" campaign at OAM 2024, this participation is also a sign of the start of the Road to Series IMX 2024 entitled Road to The World which is the first and will continue to other pre-event events in various cities to the peak of the "Big Bang" event which will be held at ICE BSD, Tangerang, on October 4-6, 2024.

"This year will be NMAA's fifth time participating in OAM 2024, bringing a local aftermarket brand to showcase its product creations," he concluded.
