Megawati's Story About Her Being Elected As Jury Zayed Award 2024
JAKARTA - PDI-P General Chair Megawati Soekarnoputri told how she could be elected as one of the 2024 Zayed Award Human Fraternity (ZAHF) judges.Megawati admitted that the offer to be on the jury in sorting out the recipients of international awards who upheld the values of simplicity and tolerance immediately came from the Grand Imam of the Al-Azhar Mosque, Ahmed El Tayeb.Megawati initially received a letter of application from Secretary General ZAHF Mohamed Abdusalam on July 24, 2023. Abdusalam in his letter asked for the willingness of the fifth President of the Republic of Indonesia to be one of the Juries for ZAHF 2024.This was conveyed by Megawati at the commemoration of Isra Mi'raj Nabi Muhammad SAW and the 2024 Zayed Award awards ceremony to Muhammadiyah and NU."When I was asked to be one of the judges, of course I was a person who didn't like being praised. So I asked why I was chosen? From the Secretary General, Mr. Mohamed Abvialam said that I was asked directly by the Grand Imam of the Egyptian Al Azhar Mosque, Professor Ahmed El-Tayeb," said Megawati, Sunday, February 11.Initially, Megawati admitted that she was surprised why she was known as the Grand Imam of the Al-Azhar Mosque in Egypt. Why can't women have the same rights as men, huh? It's all the upheaval in my mind from the time I was a child to this day," explained Megawati. Finally, the 5th President of the Republic of Indonesia expressed his willingness to become a jury. In the judging process some time ago, Megawati asked the Chairperson of the PDIP DPP for Foreign Affairs Ahmad Basarah and Zuhairi Misrawi to accompany him.
