Invite Educational Community Leaders, BKKBN: Genre Ambassador For Solutions To Prevent Early Marriage Youth
JAKARTA - The National Population and Family Planning Agency (BKKBN) said the existence of a genre ambassador is one solution to prevent early marriage among teenagers in the country.
"The number of Indonesian teenagers reached 75.493 million people or 27.94 percent of Indonesia's 270 million population based on data from the 2020 Population Census," said Deputy for Prosperous Family and Family Empowerment of BKKBN Nopian Andusti in a statement in Pekanbaru, Riau, Saturday, February 10, confiscated by Antara.
He said this was related to the fact that there were still teenagers who underwent early marriage as part of the habit of a village in several districts in Indonesia, including in Batusangkar, West Sumatra Province and Riau Province.
According to him, teenagers who marry at an early age have the potential to divorce because their age is not ready maturely and physically to get married, while parents who still want to marry their children at an early age are more afraid of being an old virgin or not selling well.
The assumption that parents and traditions like this, he said, must change because marriage can only be done after being ready to be born and inner.
"Therefore, it is necessary to intervene in community leaders, academics to educate parents so that they no longer continue the culture of young marriage to their children. One of the BKKBN's efforts to prevent early marriage is to form a pair of genre ambassadors in each village/kelurahan," he said.
