Mission Completed, Four Axiom 3 Astronauts Have Returned To Earth

JAKARTA The Axiom 3 crew, a collaboration mission between Axiom Space, SpaceX, and the United States (NASA) Aeronautics and Space Agency, returned safely on Friday, February 9.

The Dragon spacecraft, carrying four crew of Axiom 3, escaped from the International Space Station (ISS) on Wednesday, February 7. After a two-day trip, Dragon landed off the coast ofaturation, Florida.

The landing, which occurred at 20.30 WIB, indicated that the mission of four astronauts had been completed. NASA, which took part in the mission, said that the success of the Axiom 3 mission paved the way for larger space research.

"This innovative 'Axiom 3 mission is part of a bigger effort, made possible by NASA, to open up space for more people, more research and more opportunities," said NASA's Commercial Space Division Director Phil McAlister.

Phil explained that Axiom 3 has opened preparations for a transition to a commercial space station that will open later this decade. This commercial station will support various space missions in the future.

"This presents the best opportunity for the US commercial space sector to capture new global and domestic markets and provide important capabilities for the country's space goals," explains Phil.

The Axiom 3 mission began on January 18. Using Dragon, four astronauts consisting of Michael Lryptez-Alegr totaling, Walter Villadei, Marcus Wandt, and Alper Gezeravci headed to the ISS to conduct dozens of experiments.

The four astronauts spent two weeks on the ISS. They study the influence of the microgravity of neurodegenerative disease or damage to human nerve cells, study plasma physics, and much more.
