Tangerang Regency Government Anticipates Threats Of Harvest Failure Due To Bad Weather
JAKARTA - The Tangerang Regency Government (Pemkab), Banten Province, anticipates the threat of crop failure due to natural disasters such as floods and landslides, considering the high rainfall.
Head of the Young Agriculture Extension Office at the Tangerang Regency Agriculture and Food Security Service, Sahri in Tangerang, Thursday, said that the rainy season that is still ongoing this month has the potential to cause floods, and has an impact on the harvest of various commodities in the region.
Therefore, he continued, his party will intervene in controlling natural disasters such as floods by repairing irrigation canals.
"Now we have collected data, several irrigation channels that need to be repaired at this time. And we are also coordinating with relevant agencies to carry out maintenance on the irrigation," he said, quoted by Antara.
In addition, Sahri said, in anticipating the threat of disaster, his party would take steps to provide assistance to increase the productivity of farmers as a rice-producing area.
This form of support is realized in accelerating and increasing the area of planting and harvesting rice.
