Regrets Staying At Real Madrid, Luka Modric Admits He Was Lied To Carlo Ancelotti

JAKARTA - It was revealed that veteran midfielder Luka Modric admitted that he regretted staying at Real Madrid. He has released an offer from Saudi Arabia for Carlo Ancelotti's promise.

Modric refused a lucrative offer from the Saudi Arabian Pro League club because Ancelotti guaranteed that he would still play him. Even though he is no longer a starter, Modric will be the 12th or 13th player to always be fielded in the second half.

However, after seven months had passed, he rarely got the chance to play. This is what makes him disappointed and feels cheated by Ancelotti. This was revealed by journalist Eduardo Inda from Okdela.

"I said that there was an offer from the Saudi Arabian club. However, he chose to stay because he had spoken to the coach in a polite manner. The reason is, he is a highly educated coach. However, he was deceived," said Inda to El Chiringuito.

"Ancelotti did say that he did not make him a starter. However, he will still be played. Ancelotti said he still took into account him," he said.

Modric is disappointed that Ancelotti rarely plays. In fact, he hopes to still appear even as a substitute.

"Does he take it into account by playing the player more often? He's only the 15th or 16th player not every time he's dropped as a substitute. Now his contract won't be renewed and he has to leave this summer," said Inda.

Inda said that Modric would again welcome an offer from Saudi Arabia that would award him a very large contract.

"At first he got 40 million euros. Then he will pocket 60 million euros clean every season," he said.

Meanwhile, Ancelotti stated that Modric would leave Madrid at the end of this season. The reason is, the Croatian national team captain's contract is not renewed anymore.

"It's not easy to leave professional players on the bench. In fact, they have trained well and shown good performance too," said Ancelotti.

"We thank him for giving everything. At the professional level, I decided and that was his decision. However, personally, everything became very difficult," he said.
