BOGOR - The 2024 General Election (Pemilu) is the year of the younger generation. Young voters today dominate to determine the fate of the nation in the next five years.

Nationally, young voters reached 55 percent of the number of Permanent Voter Lists (DPT) as many as 204,807,222 people. They come from generation Z and Millennials aged 17 to 39 years.

In Bogor City itself, young voters in the 2024 General Election reached around 52 percent of the total DPT of 800,181 people. Consisting of 10 percent of novice voters, and 42 percent of Generation Z and millennials.

Reflecting on the magnitude and dominance of the number of young voters in the 2024 General Election, the Chairman of the Bogor City DPRD Atang Trisnanto invited young voters to exercise their voting rights on February 14.

As a result, Atang Trisnanto considered that young voters had a big role in determining the fate of the nation. Therefore, he advised that being a goalkeeper was not the right choice.

"Your voice determines the fate of the nation. So, as voters, we need to actively find out our candidate for leader. Be it the Presidential and Vice Presidential Candidates, DPD RI, DPR RI, Provincial DPRD or Regency/City DPRD," Atang Trisnanto told reporters on Wednesday 7 Fabruari.

"And access to find out their background (election participants) is now much easier," he continued.

The chairman of the Bogor City DPRD also invited young voters to be actively involved in ensuring that the election process runs democratically and according to the rules and, making elections a means of national integration, a means of uniting, not dividing.

"After the election, whoever wins, loses, all of us Indonesian citizens will be in charge and at the same expense to keep the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia strong," said Atang Trisnanto.

The chairman of the Bogor City DPRD also did not forget to advise young voters to remain alert to the dangers of hoaxes or fake news. Do not be easily provoked, let alone participate in disseminating hoax news.

"We both hold back and maintain mutual harmony so that this five-year democratic party can be celebrated in a conducive atmosphere. Check the information first whether it is valid or not. Don't spread it immediately," he added.

On this occasion, Atang Trisnanto asked the Bogor City Population and Registration Office (Disdukcapil) to be alert and continue to open electronic ID card recording services on February 8-11, 2024 holidays as an effort to increase the participation of novice voters in the 2024 General Election.
