South Jakarta SDA Sub-Department Calls Residents Renggan Donate Land To Build Turap In Kali Sarua Pejaten Barat

JAKARTA - The South Jakarta City Government (South Jakarta City Government) admits that the plan to build a sheet pile in Sarua River, West Pejaten, South Jakarta, along 1.2 kilometers (km) was hit by the problem of local residents' land ownership."We don't want to take wet land. This means reducing the width of the river, we don't want that," said Head of the Drainage Maintenance Section of the South Jakarta Water Resources Sub-dept., Junjung in Jakarta, Antara, Wednesday, February 7.Junjung said that the construction of the Kali Sarua tour was an effort by the government in minimizing flooding in Kalibata Village, Pancoran District and West Pejantan Village, Pasar Minggu District, South Jakarta.According to him, the construction of the sheet pile is still constrained by the land along the flow because Sarua River is experiencing a narrowing and is estimated to only have a width of two to four meters. There are still many residents who are reluctant to donate their land to be built a sheet pile and for that his party continues to coordinate so that the construction can be carried out."For the sheet pile, we haven't been able to measure the length. The work will be per segment, because we don't know who the land is. If we repair the embankment, we ask for a minimum land of 1.5 meters," he said.Junjung added that the budget needed is still under discussion because not all residents want to donate their land so that it becomes an obstacle in the budget allocation."It has not been calculated thoroughly. It depends on the community, we are still coordinating with the village head," he said.Previously, South Jakarta Mayor Munjirin said that the dredging and making of the Kali Sarua tour was carried out for about three to four months and he hoped that all residents would support the government's program.Meanwhile, the length of the river being dredged, continued Munjirin, is 1.2 kilometers long with a width varying from 3-4 meters and that is one of the causes of flooding when it rains.
"The sheet piles and dredging of the river we are working on are about 1.2 kilometers," he said.
