Bali Airport Records Applications For Dozens Of Extra Flights 8-11 February

DENPASAR - Bali's I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport noted that currently there have been dozens of additional flight applications from a number of domestic airlines during the long holiday of Isra Mikraj to Chinese New Year 8-11 February 2024.

"Extra flight, namely 18 departure routes and 19 arrival routes, each is the domestic route Jakarta, Makassar, Surabaya, Lombok, Banjarmasin, Yogyakarta, Solo and Tambolaka," said General Manager I Gusti Ngurah Rai Handy Heryudhitiawan, Wednesday, February 7.

The airlines that proposed additional flights were Garuda Indonesia, Citilink Indonesia, Lion Air, Super Air Jet, Indonesia Air Asia, and Namair.

"The submission of additional flights is also our concern by more intensively ensuring that operations can run well, including in terms of flight slot arrangements, security, safety, and comfort of passengers," said Handy.

Seeing the many additional flight proposals at I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport in 4 days, Handy predicts a surge in air transportation users.

He predicts the number will reach 241,133 passengers or an average of 60,000 passengers per day, this figure is 4 percent higher than passenger movements in the first week of February with an average of 57,853 passengers per day.

The prediction is seen in accordance with the characteristics of passengers traveling to Bali for a vacation and is expected to take advantage of national holidays and collective leave for travel.

"We expect an increase in passenger traffic during this week's long holiday, given that there is a red date and collective leave and maybe someone will take time off after that, so we anticipate an increase in the number of passengers," he also said.

Until now Handy has not seen a surge in the number of passengers at Ngurah Rai Airport, but it is estimated that the peak of new arrivals will be felt on Friday, February 9, 2024.

Reflecting on the aircraft passenger data, at that time it was predicted that the number of domestic passengers would reach 13,187 and internationally 16,589 passengers.

Meanwhile, the peak of departure will be felt after the end of the long holiday, namely Sunday, February 11, 2024 with an estimated 16,244 domestic passengers and 19,380 international passengers.

To increase the satisfaction of air transportation users, the airport in South Bali plans to present a thematic performance in the form of lion dance performances and games and decorations of Chinese New Year ornaments that have been installed at various points at airports during Chinese New Year celebrations.
