RI Can Catch 334,000 Tuna Fish Per Year, Trenggono: But Not Able To Do Power
JAKARTA - Minister of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries (KP) Sakti Wahyu Trenggono regrets that Indonesia has not been able to cultivate tuna until now. In fact, tuna catch in Indonesia itself has reached 334,000 tons per year.
"The Norwegian power reservoir is very strong, but we have not been able to cultivate it. In fact, tuna catch has reached 334,000 tons every year," Trenggono said on the agenda on the Indonesia Maritime and Fisheries Business Forum 2024 agenda in Jakarta, Monday, February 5.
Trenggono assessed that Norway has its own advantage in terms of cultivation in the fisheries sector. One of the advantages is salmon.
Therefore, said Trenggono, his party wants to invite Turkey to invest in Indonesia to develop tuna cultivation.

"We want to invite Turkey to invest in Indonesia. We invite them to be able to cultivate tuna fishing. This is to maintain the sustainability of the fisheries sector and its population," he said.
Thus, Trenggono hopes that in the future Indonesia can learn from other countries for the development of these fishery commodities.
"This must be (done) together, so what this market needs should be taken and then from the cultivation side we continue to learn," he added.
