Support Ganjar Pranowo, Jaleswari Consider Resigning From The Presidential Chief Of Staff

JAKARTA - Jaleswari Pramodhawardani, who has been included in the National Winning Team (TPN) for presidential candidates - vice presidential candidate Ganjar Pranowo-Mahfud Md since November 2023, admitted that he had long considered resigning from his position as Deputy V of the Presidential Chief of Staff.

He called the decision personal with various considerations. "The consideration has been quite long, but at the end, I need to focus on completing my work dependents at KSP," Jaleswari was quoted as saying by ANTARA, Saturday, February 3.

Jaleswari explained that legally his simultaneous position at TPN and KSP could actually go well. However, he realized that there are other aspects that need to be adhered to, namely ethics and his belief in terms of propriety.

"There are other aspects that I need to uphold, namely my ethics and belief that it is true legally alone is not enough, but I have to do things that are appropriate and moralally appropriate," he said.

Jaleswari, who in 2014 was a member of Team 11 of Joko Widodo's supporters, admitted that he did not meet President Joko Widodo in person to submit his resignation from KSP.

Jaleswari chose the correspondence route according to the bureaucratic mechanism, through the Presidential Chief of Staff Moeldoko, because he believes that many important agendas are currently the focus of the President's attention.

He was also reluctant to comment on the internal situation of the Palace in the midst of the current 2024 presidential election contestation. For him, it is more appropriate to address those who have the capacity and relevance of representing the current Palace vote.

Jaleswari also stated that his resignation was personal, so he could not comment whether other officials would participate in the resignation or not.

"However, I believe that everyone must have their own ethical and moral considerations and calculations in determining their political stance, including when he resigned from a position," he said.

He also said that continuing to interact with former Team 11 members, and again emphasized that his decision to withdraw from KSP was a personal decision.

"The decision to resign is my personal decision, of course, to hear, feel and consider from various sides. My friends (former) Team 11 always interact and communicate to this day. Team 11 friends fully support my decision," he explained.

Furthermore, regarding the reason for his resignation, he personally assessed that Indonesia is currently facing the test of democratic civilization.

According to him, there are two choices at this time, between superior democracy as a mandate for reform and the constitution, or rolling back all achievements that have been achieved through various electoral cycles in the past.

"We must dare to side with the truth, on goodness, and on ethics. That not everything is gray. There are names that are right and wrong," he explained.

Jaleswari emphasized that he did not make the electoral calculation of Ganjar-Mahfud a basis for resignation, because his steps were reversed based on ethics and belief.

However, he saw that there was a discourse that was widely arrested by the public that the Ganjar-Mahfud team's movement always stood primarily on ethics and moral values.

"I think this has a resonance with the public's longing for the elite who are nurturing and can be an example for the public," he said.

Jaleswari Pramodhawardani has resigned from his position as Deputy V of the Presidential Chief of Staff starting Thursday, February 1, 2024.

Jaleswari conveyed that formally the process of submitting his resignation had been submitted to President Joko Widodo through Presidential Chief of Staff Moeldoko.

Jaleswari, who is known to have been included in the Ganjar Pranowo-Mahfud Md National Winning Team since November 2023, has declared his resignation because he does not want to be perceived as a political burden for President Joko Widodo.
