Bali DPD Secretariat Anticipates Insecurity In The Aftermath Of Arya Wedakarna's Dismissal

Head of the Bali Regional Representative Council (DPD) Office Putu Rio said the secretariat had coordinated with the police to anticipate the vulnerability following the dismissal of DPD Member Committee I Arya Wedakarna read out by the DPD BK.

"That's an anticipation that we have coordinated with the police, only until now if there is no direction from the center, Mr. AWK (Arya Wedakarna's nickname) we still consider him a member," he said in Denpasar as reported by ANTARA, Friday, February 2.

Arya Wedakarna is a member of two terms with the highest votes in Bali in the last election, namely more than 742 thousand votes, so that his militant supporters are expected to be wise in this decision.

"What is clear is that we really hope for peace. Yes, there must be pros and cons, but don't disturb other interests. The situation is hot again," said Rio.

Currently, the Bali DPD Office itself still records AWK as an active member because the decree for its dismissal has not yet reached the secretariat in Bali.

Rio said that the entire process would take place at the central DPD, administratively according to him, there was still a long journey until Arya Wedakarna was officially dismissed from his position, the current condition in their office was also relatively safe because the BK DPD decision itself was only read out this morning.

"As far as I know, after the decree is signed by the leadership of the DPD, it will be submitted to the President of the Republic of Indonesia, he has a presidential decision. So it does not necessarily mean that the letter is ratified, there must be a presidential decision. It is the same if the dismissal of the DPR as well, the president's permission must be examined, the president's permission must be obtained," he said.

The results of the examination by the BK DPD RI stated that Arya Wedakarna was proven guilty, the decision to dismiss him was read out directly by the Deputy Chairman of the Honorary Board Made Mangku Pastika.

"Based on Article 48 paragraph 1 and paragraph 2 of the DPD RI Regulation Number 1 of 2021, the Honorary Board of the DPD RI has decided and stipulated that the defendant Dr. Shri IGN Arya Wedakarna MS III, SE, (M.Tru), MSI, a member of the DPD RI from Bali Province was proven to have violated the oath/promise of office and code of ethics and/or the rules of the DPD RI as regulated in the MD3 Law with severe sanctions of permanent dismissal as a member of the DPD RI," he said in Jakarta, Friday.

Previously, the leadership and chairman of the BK DPD came to the Island of the Gods to verify evidence and witnesses on reports from Bugbug residents, Karangasem, who complained Arya Wedakarna over the alleged provocation of the resort burning case, as well as reports from the Bali MUI who suspected that the senator had spread hate speech containing SARA.
