AWS Report: More Than A Million Businesses In Europe Adopt Artificial Intelligence In 2023
JAKARTA - More than a third of businesses in Europe adopt artificial intelligence (AI) in 2023, with a surge in AI's generating use. This was disclosed in a report ordered by Amazon Web Services (AWS).
The European Commission, the executive agency of the European Union, has set a Digital Decade 2030 vision in 2021 to change the region, with a target of 80% of the population acquiring digital basic skills, 5G connectivity across all places, and 75% of EU companies using cloud services.
In 2022, only a quarter of EU businesses adopted AI, and a report last year estimated that the European Union was at risk of lag behind its Digital Decade target over the next ten years unless the government focused on closing the skills gap.

"Last year became a turning point; from Malmo to Milan, the availability of genrative AI created enthusiasm for experiments among consumers and businesses," said Tanuja Randery, Director of Management at AWS, quoted by VOI from Reuters. "The accelerated adoption of AI last year has helped Europe achieve its Digital Decade goal," he added.
A survey conducted by Strand Partners of more than 16,000 residents and 14,000 businesses found that 38% of companies were experimenting with AI. The report estimates the positive economic impact of AI is around 600 billion euros, above the previous estimate of 2.8 trillion euros.
