Having Customer Based Nearly 20 Million Customers, BSI Product Implementation Is Still Low
JAKARTA - Since the merger of state-owned Islamic banks to PT Bank Syariah Indonesia Tbk in 2021, BSI has recorded a significant increase in customer-based throughout 2023.
As of December 2023, BSI customer-based recorded 19.65 million customers or 10.53 percent yoy grew.
"This condition places BSI as the largest Islamic bank in the world. An extraordinary blessing and when compared to the national banking industry, BSI is currently in the 5th position of national banking in terms of customer-based," said BSI Director of Sales & Distribution Anton Sukarna, Thursday, February 1.
Anton added that the penetration of BSI products at customer base is relatively low even though it has a customer-based of almost 20 million customers.
He said, although product penetration is still low, this can be considered an opportunity for BSI because it has a fairly high growth space.
"If you look at nearly 20 million new BSI customers, 1.16 million are enjoying financing facilities at BSI or about 5.9 percent of our total customers," continued Anton.
He detailed, specifically for customers based who enjoy the financing of new consumers, amounting to 600,000 or approximately 3.05 percent of the total BSI customers.
The same thing also happens to customers who enjoy business savings, customers who are prioritized or used by BSI are relatively low when compared to their customer-based.
"This condition provides benefits for BSI to grow better by optimizing our cust base," added Anton.

Anton added that BSI services have covered all regions in Indonesia and placed BSI in 5th position as a bank with the number of networks owned.
"This means that we have 1000 networks. God willing, it can be an opportunity and challenge for BSI to provide better services to the community. Apart from domestic potential, we will continue to increase our coverage abroad, God willing. Alhamdulillah, BSI currently has branches in Dubai and we are trying to open our branches in Saudi Arabia," explained Anton.
