Mahfud Meets President Jokowi To Submit A Letter Of Resignation
Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs Mahfud MD met with President Joko Widodo at the Presidential Palace, Jakarta, to submit a letter of resignation from the ministerial position.
"I just received Mr. President Joko Widodo, accompanied by the Minister of State Secretary Pak Pratikno. I submitted a request to stop," Mahfud said in a statement quoted by ANTARA, Thursday, February 1.
Mahfud's meeting with Jokowi was closed. Mahfud conveyed a statement accompanied by Minister of State Secretary Pratikno.
He submitted a letter to Jokowi containing three things. First, Mahfud expressed his gratitude to President Joko Widodo for appointing him as minister on October 23, 2019 with full respect.
Therefore, he also officially respectfully stated a letter asking to resign.
Second, regarding the substance of the contents of the letter of application to stop. Third, Mahfud apologized if there were things that could not be carried out properly while serving as minister.
"Alhamdulillah, the President is the same as me, we talk from heart to heart, are full of kinship and both smile," said Mahfud.
Mahfud stated that his resignation would be legal after President Jokowi issued a Presidential Decree.
Mahfud, who is the candidate for vice president number 3, stated that he wanted to resign to set an example for other state officials not to abuse the position and facilities of the state for campaigns.
He has discussed the step back with his partner in the 2024 presidential election presidential candidate number 3 Ganjar Pranowo, as well as with the party that carries/supporters and campaign teams.
