Vitalik Buterin: Merger Of AI And Crypto Can Make Digital Systems Safer

JAKARTA - Crypto technology and artificial intelligence (AI) are two areas that are growing rapidly in the digital era. Both have the potential to provide innovative solutions to the various problems and challenges faced by society, business, and the government.

Vitalik Buterin, co-founder of Ethereum, a prominent blockchain platform, shared his views on the potential and challenges of collaboration between artificial intelligence (AI) and crypto technologies. He believes that the incorporation of these two technologies can create a digital system that is more efficient, secure, and democratic. On the other hand, he also warns of possible risks posed by improper AI use.

In a post blog published on January 30, Buterin outlined the theoretical similarities between AI automation and crypto decentralization. However, the merger of the two took quite a long time to develop.

This is due to obstacles in both areas, such as constraints on computing, privacy, and security. He emphasized that new developments have changed the landscape.

According to him, the development of strong AI language models, such as GPT-3, and advanced crypto devices such as safe multi-party computing and zero-knowledge proofs, opens the door for productive cooperation between the two fields.

"In the last three years, with the emergence of stronger AI in the form of Modern LLMs, and stronger crypto in the form of blockchain-scale solutions as well as ZKPs, FHE, (two parties and N-party) MPC, I'm starting to see this change," concluded Ethereum founder.

Buterin added, Indeed, there are several promising applications from AI in the blockchain ecosystem, or AI with crypto, although it is so important to be careful about how AI is applied.
