Anies-Imin Camp Protests To TNI Allow Prabowo Declaration Event At Kartini Hall
JAKARTA - Spokesperson for the National Team for Winning Anies-Muhaimin (AMIN) Iwan Tarigan expressed his objection to the Ministry of Defense and the TNI Headquarters because it allowed a declaration of support for the presidential and vice presidential candidate number 1, Prabowo Subianto-Gibran Rakabuming Raka at Kartini Hall. The declaration event was held by the United Indonesia Advocate Alliance at the Balai Kartini Soldier Hall, South Jakarta, which is a facility belonging to the TNI. "We would like to express objections and protests to the Ministry of Defense, TNI Headquarters, TNI AD Headquarters and the Indonesian Bawaslu for the use of TNI facility buildings, namely Wisma Kartini, which was used by campaigns and declarations of advocate support to the pair 02 Prabowo-Gibran on January 26, 2024," said Iwan Tarigan in his statement, Wednesday, January 31. Iwan reminded that the TNI should maintain neutrality and comply with the law (UUU). He referred to Article 34 of Law Number 34 of 2004 concerning the Indonesian National Army which states that soldiers are prohibited from being involved in activities of becoming members of political parties, practical political activities, business activities, and activities to be selected as members of the legislature in general elections and other political positions. Then, Iwan emphasized that the TNI's neutrality obligation was also mandated in Article 306 of Law Number 7 of 2017 concerning General Elections. In the article mandates that the government, TNI, and Polri are prohibited from taking favorable actions or detrimental to election participants, campaign implementers, and campaign teams. TNI-Polri neutrality is absolutely necessary to create peaceful and happy elections. In the atmosphere of democratic parties, the main task of the TNI and Polri is to ensure that elections run safely, peacefully, and fairly without political intervention in power, "said Iwan.
