Big Influential In The Music World, Elton John And Bernie Taupin Awarded Gershwin Prize

JAKARTA - Elton John and Bernie Taupin received Gerrwin Prize for Popular Song 2024 from the Library of Congress. This award was given for its influence and achievements in the field of popular songs.

This announcement was made two weeks after John confirmed his name at the EGOT Hall of Fame.

Carla Hayden as Librarian of Congress said the award to John and Taupin was awarded for writing some of the most memorable songs.

Their career stands out because of their broad quality and musical appeal as well as their influence on fellow artists. More than 50 years ago, they came from abroad to win the hearts of Americans and audiences around the world with their beautiful songs and rock songs," said Carla Hayden, launching People, Wednesday, January 31.

"We are proud to give this Gershwin Prize award to Elton and Bernie, for their extraordinary impact on the generation of music lovers," he continued.

The respect for John and Taupin will continue with a tribute concert that will take place in Washington on March 20.

"I've been writing songs with Bernie for 56 years, and we never thought that one day this will be awarded to us. It's an extraordinary honor for two Britons to be recognized like this. I am very honored," said Elton John.
