Unscrupulous Extortion Dishub Residents Parking At Cakung Station Get Ready To Get Sanctions

Head of the DKI Jakarta Transportation Agency, Syafrin Liputo, said that his party would investigate who the Transportation Agency officers were who carried out extortion to residents providing parking space around Cakung Station, East Jakarta.

In this case, residents who provide parking space on their land are asked to pay Rp600 thousand per month to DKI Jakarta Transportation Agency officers on the grounds of levy.

"Of course this (extortion) is a violation when viewed from his statement. We will follow up on this," Syafrin told reporters, Wednesday, January 31.

If found proven guilty of extortion, continued Syafrin, the DKI Transportation Agency person is ready to be subject to sanctions.

"I will give strict sanctions to the person concerned if it is true that there are Dishub officers who then charge people who empower land for parking locations because in principle it is private land," explained Syafrin.

Syafrin also appreciated the attitude of the residents who provided parking services in the yard of his house. Because, he admitted that Cakung Station was not supported by adequate vehicle parking facilities.

"Some of the KRL stations do not have adequate parking locations in terms of numbers. Therefore, the people around the station carry out environmental or hometown empowerment to make parking spaces and of course we encourage this to happen," he explained.
