Umrah Fraud Cases In Jambi End In Peace, Perpetrators Return Victim Losses Of IDR 658 Million

JAMBI - Jambi Regional Police (Polda) are pursuing a restorative justice (RJ) mechanism to resolve cases of alleged Umrah fraud committed by travel from Jepara, Central Java.

The Director General of the Jambi Regional Police, Kombes Andri Ananta Yudhistira, explained that the case cases of dozens of Umrah pilgrims from Jambi who were abandoned in Jeddah some time ago were resolved using the Restorative Justice (RJ) mechanism.

The complainant and the reported have been met. From the results of the meeting, both parties resolved this case by deliberation and consensus was held.

"Yes, some time ago we have met, both of them have deliberated and agreed, returned the rights of the complainant," he said as quoted by ANTAR, Monday, January 29.

In addition, the reporting party, namely a Jambi travel agent named Nur Habibullah, made a letter of revocation of the report. After that, the police immediately took action and stopped the case using Restorative Justice (RJ).

Andri emphasized that the case had been terminated using the Restorative Justice (RJ) mechanism.

Previously, the President Director of Umrah travel from Jepara Miftahuddin was reported to the Jambi Regional Police by an agent from Jambi with an alleged fraud case.

This report follows the neglect of 41 Umrah pilgrims from Jambi and 1 from Jakarta in Jeddah who cannot return to Indonesia because they do not have plane tickets.

Jambi Umrah travel agent Nur Habibullah said at that time he had to use his personal funds to buy tickets for the congregation's plane because there was no certainty from the Jepara Umrah travel management.

In November 2023, Jambi's agent made a report to the Jambi Regional Police on suspicion of fraud. He suffered a loss of Rp. 658 million.

After going through the investigation process, on Tuesday (9/1) the reported returned all the money belonging to the reporter.
