Mazda MX-5 2024 Receives Refreshment In The United States, Prices Rise

JAKARTA - The Mazda MX-5 Miata roadster model in October 2023 received a refresher in Japan. Now, an update is also happening for the United States market.

As reported on the Car and Drive page, Saturday, January 27, 2024, this model, which is classified as selling well in the US, has received various improvements for 2024, both from cosmetics to interior. The price also increased.

On the exterior, the new LED headlights and back are embedded in Miata. Then, the design of the new wheels and new colors called Aero Gray adds to the impression of pulling this one car.

Meanwhile, the choice of a brown Nappa leather seat is now an option for the Grand Touring model. In addition, there is a larger 8.8-inch infotainment display. Mazda also added a new layer to the center console.

Specifically for models equipped with differential limited-slips, there is the addition of asymmetric LSD which promises to increase stability and corner more sharply by reducing oversteer and unwanted understeer.

The powertrain has not changed and remains using a 2.0 liter fresh four-cylinder engine, measuring 181 HP combined with a rear wheel drive and six-speed manual transmission. In addition, there is still six-speed automatic transmission available on the Grand Touring trim.

There is an increase in prices, where the basic model rose by around US$935 (Rp14 million) which previously existed at US$30,150 (Rp475 million). As for the trim Softtop Club starting from US$33,650 (Rp530 million) and Grand Touring for US$35,450 (Rp559 million). Meanwhile, the RF hardtop version starts from 38,115 US dollars (Rp601 million).

Mazda also offers additional accessories, such as packages for Brembo, BBS or Recaro, an upgraded wheel, and seat, available for 4,800 US dollars (Rp75 million) for the softtop Club version and standardized at Club RF. Later, the revised Miata will go on sale in the US before spring arrives.
