JAKARTA - Viral on social media TikTok train passengers admitted that they did not know the rules for the provisions for the allowed baggage. According to the passenger, there was no information submitted by PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) or KAI regarding the maximum limit for passenger baggage.
The incident was experienced by an account named @nandar_pamungkas. He said on the online ticket purchase platform there was no explanation regarding the maximum allowed baggage limit.
"The letter is open to KAI, important information like this can be better socialized. Especially for passengers who buy tickets via Tiket.com and Traveloka. Because the platform is not informed of the number of passenger baggage restrictions," he wrote, quoted on Friday, January 26.
Bagage Rules On Trains
PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) again reminded prospective customers to bring baggage in accordance with the stipulated regulations. The reason is, if passengers carry luggage exceeding the maximum limit of the provisions, additional costs will be imposed.
KAI Vice President Public Relations Joni Martinus said KAI allows passengers to carry luggage or a maximum baggage of 20 kilograms (kg) per person. He said this rule had been implemented for a long time.
"It has been implemented for a long time and not a new rule. KAI has also often carried out periodic socialization both through mass media and social media," he said in an official statement.
Joni said, the ticket booking through the Access by KAI application has written terms and conditions including baggage rules, which must be read and approved by customers to proceed to the ticket payment stage.
"Customers are allowed to carry luggage without being subject to duties with a maximum weight of 20 kg and a maximum volume of 100 dm3 with a maximum dimension of 70 x 48 x 30 cm and a maximum of 4 koli (bagitory system)," he said.
If during boarding at the station, continued Joni, customers are known to bring baggage that exceeds this provision, they will be subject to duties of Rp. 10,000 per kg for the executive class. Meanwhile, Rp. 6,000 per kg for business class, and Rp. 2,000 per kg for economic class.
Customer luggage can be placed on the baggage rack above the seat or placed in another place that does not interfere or endanger other customers and which does not cause damage to the train.
