Head Of Tanimbar BPKAD Jonas Batlayeri Sued 8 Years In Prison For Official Travel Corruption Case

AMBON - Head of the Regional Financial and Asset Management Agency (BPKAD) of Tanimbar Islands Regency, Maluku, Jonas Batlayeri was sentenced to eight years in prison by the team of public prosecutors (JPU) Kejari Saumlaki in a case of alleged corruption in the official travel budget for the 2020 fiscal year."Ask the panel of judges who examined and tried this case to declare the defendant guilty of violating Article 2 and Article 3 of Law Number 30 of 1999 concerning eradicating corruption as amended by Law Number 20 of 2001 Juncto Article 55 of the 1st KHUP," said Maluku Attorney General's Office Grace Siahaya in Ambon, Antara, Thursday, January 25.The prosecutor's demands were delivered in a trial chaired by the chairman of the Ambon Corruption Court, Wilson Shriver, and accompanied by two member judges.The defendant Jonas was also required to pay a fine of Rp. 350 million, subsidiary to three months in prison and was charged with paying a fine of Rp. 1.2 billion minus Rp. 550 million which had been deposited by a subsidiary of four years in prison.During the trial, the Public Prosecutor also charged five other defendants with varying between six and seven years in prison.The defendants Kristina Sermatang and Maria Goreti were each sentenced to seven years in prison and a fine of Rp. 300 million, subsidiary to three months in prison.The defendant Kristina Sermatang, who is the Treasurer of the 2020 KKT BPKAD Expenditure, was required to pay compensation of Rp193.1 million, subsidiary of 3.5 years in prison, and Maria Goreti as Secretary of the 2020 BPKAD KKT was also required to pay compensation of Rp665.4 million, subsidiary of 3.5 years in prison.Meanwhile, the defendants Klemen Yoan Oratmangun, Liberata Malirmasele and Letarius Erwin Layan were sentenced to the same prison sentence, namely six years in prison each and a fine of Rp250 million, subsidiary to three months in prison.The defendant Klemen was required to pay compensation of Rp. 788.8 million, subsidiary to three years in prison, Liberata Mairmasele Rp. 251.7 million, subsidiary to three years in prison and Letarius Erwin was required to pay compensation of Rp. 351.3 million, subsidiary to three years in prison.
The panel of judges postponed the trial until next week with the agenda of hearing the defendants' defense through their legal counsel.
