Former Trade Minister Lutfi Talks About Minister Of Resignation: Will Not Be Productive

JAKARTA - Former Minister of Trade Muhammad Lutfi also commented on the issue that a number of ministers would withdraw from the Advanced Indonesia Cabinet.

According to him, the decision to resign as a minister is a person's right. If you are not able to do tasks based on capacity and capability, especially when running for the 2024 general election (election). However, being reminded that a step back is not productive.

"With less than nine months to go, until the end of Jokowi's period, matters of resigning from the cabinet will certainly not be productive," Lutfi said as quoted on Wednesday, January 24.

Instead, the focus that must be done at this time is to ensure that the transition to the next government runs smoothly and effectively.

Therefore, the decision to resign must look at the situation from various perspectives and appreciate the existing democratic process. "So not when electability is low, we just shouted about the rules of the game, asked to resign, and so on," he said.

Lutfi also reminded again that in Law Number 7 of 2017 concerning Elections, presidential and vice presidential candidates are not required to resign from their positions in government. The regulation is said to have been agreed upon by all political parties in the DPR, which currently have presidential candidates. "If the public feels that this rule is not appropriate, changes can be proposed through the 2029 election," said Lutfi.

On the other hand, Lutfi assessed that the minister's issue of resigning from the cabinet was a form of fear. This is because ministers have begun to emerge who support one of the pairs of presidential and vice presidential candidates.

"Moreover, currently there is a minister who has a mass, political power, and extraordinary intelligence, wants to support one of the pairs of candidates who is felt good and suitable for this country," said Lutfi.

Meanwhile, one of the ministers who will resign is Mahfud MD. At the Collision Prof. event in Semarang, Mahfud MD stated that he would resign as Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs with the aim of preventing conflicts of interest. However, this step was taken at the right momentum.

"At the right time, we will definitely submit a good resignation," Mahfud said in a YouTube live broadcast Mahfud MD Official, Tuesday night, January 23.

Mahfud emphasized that the matter of resignation had indeed been discussed with his presidential candidate pair, Ganjar Pranowo. Suggestions were also given by the former Governor of Central Java.

However, he could not immediately apply for himself to resign from his position. Because there is still work to be done.

"What Pak Ganjar said to the public this afternoon was my agreement with Pak Ganjar from the start," said Mahfud.

"So there is no conflict with Pak Ganjar," continued the former Chief Justice of the Constitutional Court (MK).
