Pertamina EP Tanjung Cable Thief Arrested By Police

A member of the Tabalong Resort Police, South Kalimantan, arrested the perpetrator of the cable belonging to PT Pertamina EP Tanjung, who is a fugitive with the initials KS (31) from Pusau Village, Murung Pudak District.

Tabalong Police Chief AKBP Anib Bastian said officers arrested the perpetrators in Bumi Harapan Village, Sepaku District, North Penajam Paser Regency, East Kalimantan along with evidence of three pieces of leather/packers of copper cables of about five meters long and a bundle of copper cables.

"KS perpetrators, we have secured them at the Murung Pudak Police to undergo a legal process on suspicion of theft as referred to in Article 363 Paragraph (1) of the 4e Criminal Code," Anib said as quoted by ANTARA, Wednesday, January 24.

Anib said that the Head of the Murung Pudak Police, Iptu Suwito, together with the North Penajam Paser Police and the Sepaku Police, arrested the perpetrators on Monday, January 22.

He said the crime of theft was uncovered when the complainant who was on patrol at an oil well owned by Pertamina found traces of cables that had been cut.

After checking around the well, it was found that the 3 X 240 millimeter electric cable was about 15 meters long, which resulted in a loss of around Rp. 22 million.

"The reporter was on patrol around the oil well and saw the cable cut, then immediately reported the incident to the local police," said Anib.

The Tabalong Police Chief said the perpetrators of the theft of the power cable were already at the Murung Pudak Police Station to undergo further examination and legal proceedings.
