Sudirman Said Supports Mahfud MD To Resign From Minister, But Says Cak Imin Is Not Necessary
JAKARTA - The National Team for Winning Anies-Muhaimin (Timnas AMIN) Sudirman Said supports the plan for vice presidential candidate number 3 Mahfud MD who will resign from the position of Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs (Menko Polhukam).
In fact, Sudirman Said also encouraged other presidential candidates who are still serving as ministers to resign.
"If only all ministers who are candidates and involved in the campaign resign, that is a very good practice," said Sudirman at Rumah Change, Jalan Brawijaya, South Jakarta, Wednesday, January 24.
However, this attitude is different for the vice presidential candidate number 3, Muhaimin Iskandar (Cak Imin). According to Sudirman, Cak Imin does not need to resign from the DPR seat.
"This is not because I defend Cak Imin. There are different executive duties and legislative duties," said the former Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM).
Sudirman explained that the executive position held by Mahfud or Prabowo Subianto as Minister of Defense is an official who can execute government programs. However, Cak Imin, who occupies the legislative position, cannot do that.
"We have never discussed Pak Muhaimin resigning from his position as Deputy Speaker of the DPR. But what is in the executive will indeed be good state practice if he let go," explained Sudirman.

Previously at the Collis Prof in Semarang, Mahfud MD stated that he would resign from his position as Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs to prevent conflicts of interest. However, this step was taken at the right moment.
"At the right time, we will definitely submit a good resignation," Mahfud said in a YouTube live broadcast Mahfud MD Official, Tuesday night, January 23.
Mahfud emphasized that the matter of resignation had indeed been discussed with his presidential candidate pair, Ganjar Pranowo. Suggestions were also given by the former Governor of Central Java.
However, he could not immediately apply for himself to resign from his position. Because there is still work to be done.
"What Pak Ganjar said to the public this afternoon was my agreement with Pak Ganjar from the start," said Mahfud.
"So there is no conflict with Pak Ganjar," continued the former Chief Justice of the Constitutional Court (MK).
