Dodhy Admits Missing Premature Debut Band In The National Music Industry
JAKARTA - Kangen Band debuted in the national music industry by releasing the album About Aku, You & Him in 2007. The entry of Dodhy cs into industry was preceded by their songs which began to be loved and played a lot on public transportation in Lampung.
However, Dodhy as the frontman of the Kangen Band said that the personnel were not actually ready to enter the national music industry at that time. He called the Kangen Band a premature debut.
When he was a guest on Dewa Budjana's YouTube channel, Dodhy told how the first recording in Jakarta for his debut album had to experience many obstacles. Many personnel are technically unable to undergo the recording session.
"When we were in Lampung, we filled the drums with my noodles. Then, when we were told to record, the drummer was a bit stuck because he had never tried live recordings. It turned out that we had been waiting all night to not finish, finally we decided to just use jockeys," said Dodhy, launching Dewa Budjana's YouTube channel, Wednesday, January 24.
In addition to drums, Kangen Band must also be assisted by a session player to fill out keyboard instruments and acoustic guitars.
Not only in the recording studio, Dodhy also had difficulties when he had to appear in public. Kangen Band's initial performance on stage was recognized as not yet feasible.
"The stage is still a mess, wow, it's a mess," said Dodhy.
Dodhy, who initiated the Kangen Band, said that the initial personnel of the Kangen Band had no experience performing before. He admitted that he did not take into account technical capabilities when forming the Kangen Band.
"In the past, I had a band, and the band (personnel) were not them. So I had a band, then I showed my song, my band didn't like my songs. He said it was disgusting and all kinds of things, I was made up. So, my second option is to hire my own friends, hang out friends. I teach you one by one. I teach keyboard players, bass players I teach you," said Dodhy.
"They are indeed premature. They were artists but they weren't ready. At that time the music experience was still small," he continued.
The Kangen Band guitarist also admitted that several times he was not recalled by concert organizers after seeing their performance.
However, Dodhy and other personnel continued to learn to make music, until finally the recording of the second album, Bintang 14 Hari (2008) was filled with all personnel.
"But at that time we couldn't play the band, that's why it was premature. He was an accidental band, suddenly exploded but wasn't ready to play. We want to change the professional one, but we come from the village together, so we don't want to hold it. Finally, we study together, and survive by being hit by it," concluded Dodhy Kangen Band.
