Surakarta Palace Begins To Be Revitalized
The Surakarta Hadiningrat Kasunanan Palace has begun to be revitalized in line with the entry of improvements to the historical heritage in the Surakarta Mayor Gibran Rakabuming Raka's priority project.
Representative of the Surakarta Kasunanan Palace KP Eddy Wirabhumi said the revitalization process had been carried out over the past week.
He said the initial stage of revitalization targeted the two palace areas, namely the north and south squares belonging to the Surakarta Palace. For the arrangement in the northern square, he said, it was carried out starting from the Gladag Corridor to the main buildings in the northern square.
Meanwhile, in the south, the revitalization begins in the main parts of the south square and its surroundings, including the arrangement of street vendors and so on.
"The north square from Gladak has not touched the environment, while in the south square it includes the environment," he said as quoted by ANTARA, Tuesday, January 24.
Eddy ensured that during the revitalization, traditional palace activities would still be carried out as usual. In addition, traders who usually sell in the square area are temporarily moved to other locations that have not been touched by the revitalization.

"We will prepare a temporary location, for example, if this side is worked on, traders will be shifted to another side that has not been worked on and so on. The point is not to let this revitalization disrupt people's economic activities," he said.
This revitalization is also part of the government's efforts and the palace provides a more appropriate place for traders.
"God willing, there will be no problems with traders because later a better place will be given," he said.
Previously, the revitalization of the Surakarta Kasunanan Palace was initiated by the Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing using a budget of IDR 29.3 billion. The work process is targeted for completion in September 2024.
