Inul Daratista Calls The Increase In Entertainment Taxes Bad Impacts For The Collection Of Music Royalties

JAKARTA - Inul Daratista along with several people who complained about the increase in entertainment taxes visited the Office of the Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs to convey their complaints.

The increase in taxes to 40 to 70 percent is said by Inul to be able to make the karaoke business he built during the last 11 years stop operating.

The difficulty of karaoke entrepreneurs to run their business is also called Inul which can have a negative impact on their employees. In addition, music people such as songwriters who have been benefiting from royalty payments will also lose money.

"I think (increasing an entertainment tax) can make my business close, and the closing effect of this will be that many of my employees will be laid off. And not only employees who are affected but music personnel will not receive royalties," said Inul Daratista in Menteng, Central Jakarta on Monday, January 22.

"It's not just royalties, but we can't deposit them to LMKN. If we close there won't be any income for them," he continued.

According to Inul, the karaoke business in Indonesia can raise a lot of money, and pay a large nominal value to the National Collective Management Institute (LMKN).

"Our income at family karaoke is currently we can deposit it to LMKN 22 billion. We can deposit it there and it can be distributed to music people. If we were subject to such a large tax, yes, wassalam," concluded Inul Daratista.
