KKB Terror Makes Sugapa Intan Jaya Residents Evacuate To TNI Post

JAYAPURA - Temporary Deputy Head of Information for the Cenderawasih KodamXVII Lt. Col. Infantry,Chandra Kurniawan, said that currently around 270 people have secured themselves from disturbances by armed criminal groups to TNI Yonif 330/TD posts in Sugapa, Intan Jaya Regency, Central Papua.

"It is true that hundreds of people fled to the TNI post for fear of the KKB, which in addition to disturbing the security forces as well as civilians," Chandra said as quoted by ANTARA, Tuesday, January 23.

"Usually they, especially children, women and parents come to the post in the afternoon and in the morning someone returns home," he added.

Chandra, who claimed to be serving in Jakarta, said the displaced residents came from six villages, namely Holomama Village, Sobilai, Mamba Atas, Amaisiga, Jalai, and Yokatapa Villages.

From the reports received, the condition of the displaced residents is quite safe.

The attack carried out by the KKB on Friday (19/1), in addition to causing a Brimob member to die, also injured civilians and burned down residents' houses.

Meanwhile, Head of the Cartenz Peaceful Public Relations Task Force, Bayu Suseno, separately confirmed reports related to three members of the Intan Jaya KKB who were shot and injured during a firefight on Sunday (21/1).

"Three KKB members suffered gunshot wounds, namely Oni Kobagau, Belau Network, and Agusti," said Bayu Suseno.
