Highlight Food Estate After Debate, Mahfud MD: Plant Cassava That Grows Corn In Peat Land

JAKARTA - Vice Presidential Candidate number three, Mahfud MD highlighted Prabowo Subianto's mainstay food estate program, which is the number two presidential candidate who is also the Minister of Defense. He mentioned that the land that should have been planted with contemporary cassava was even overgrown with corn.

This was conveyed by Mahfud through his X account which had a blue tick, @mohmahfudmd. Starting his tweet, the Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs (Menko Polhukam) said Indonesia was great like a milk pond.

Indonesia is great like a milk pond. Lah, planted millions of hectares of cassava for food estates that grew corn," Mahfud wrote as quoted on Monday, January 22.

This tweet was conveyed by Mahfud after participating in the vice presidential debate on Sunday night, January 21. The three candidate pairs at that time collided with ideas about the environment, natural resources, energy, food, agrarian, sustainable development.

It didn't stop there, Mahfud also mentioned that the corn planted was inappropriate. Because, it turns out that planting is done in a polybag by which he is written goodiebag.

Mahfud suspects that this planting was carried out because the soil contours in Gunung Mas, Central Kalimantan were not suitable for agricultural commodities. "Eh, it turns out that the corn is planted with a goody bag because it is impossible to grow corn on the ground of Gunung Mas," he said.

For information, the number two vice presidential candidate, Gibran Rakabuming Raka, mentioned the food estate program being run by President Joko Widodo (Jokowi). Mahfud and vice presidential candidate number one, Muhaimin Iskandar or Cak Imin were asked not to spread the narrative that the program failed.

"Numbers one and three are compact food estates that failed, I reiterate, sir, that there was indeed a failure, but there were also those who succeeded who had been harvested," said Gibran during the vice presidential debate.

One of the successes of the implementation of the food estate called President Jokowi's son is in Gunung Mas. Gibran said, there corn and cassava have been successfully harvested.
