Responding To Gibran About Revocation Of Mining IUP, Mahfud: Many Mafia

JAKARTA - Candidate for Vice President number 3, Mahfud MD gave an answer regarding the response of vice presidential candidate number 2, Gibran Rakabuming Raka, who will revoke the Mining Business License (IUP) for companies caught carrying out illegal mining.

"Revocational of the IUP, there are many mafias. I have sent a team to the field, that's the Supreme Court's decision," Mahfud said in the Vice Presidential Debate, Sunday, January 21.

In fact, said Mahfud, the completion of illegal mines is difficult because it is widely supported by the authorities.

"Even the KPK said that mining in Indonesia is illegal, it is backed by officers and officials," continued Mahfud.

He noted that there were at least 2,500 illegal mines in Indonesia. But more than that, in the last 10 years, there have been many deforestation of up to 12.5 hectares of forest.

"It is much wider than South Korea and the 23x area of Madura Island where I live," concluded Mahfud.
