DKI Provincial Government Claims Horticulture Food Prices In Early 2024 Down From The End Of 2023

JAKARTA - Head of the DKI Jakarta Food, Maritime and Agriculture Security Service, Suharini Eliawati, claims that the price of food types of vegetables and fruits has decreased at this time compared to the end of 2023.

"The development of retail food prices in early 2024 compared to the previous month for horticultural commodities has decreased by 10.46 percent to 17.46 percent," Eli said in his statement, Friday, January 19.

Meanwhile, the prices of other commodities of chicken meat, beef, eggs, sugar and cooking oil are relatively stable. Likewise with the availability of food at the beginning of this year which is claimed to be sufficient.

"The stock of availability of food supply in early 2024 in DKI Jakarta Province is in sufficient condition so that people do not need to make excessive purchases," said Eli.

On the one hand, continued Eli, the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government continues to make efforts to maintain food availability and control food prices by maintaining supplies through urban agriculture and cooperation between regions, reducing market demand, and facilitating food access through cheap basic necessities and low-cost food activities.

This year, the DKI Provincial Government has again held cheap food since January 16, 2024 at the Penjaringan Village Office, North Jakarta. Eli said this activity was one of the government's efforts in order to stabilize food prices in early 2024.

"The cheap basic food activities of the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government will be carried out continuously in other urban villages offices," he said.

Food packages in cheap food consist of 5 kilograms of rice, 1 liter of cooking oil, kilograms of sugar, and 2 kilograms of wheat flour. The public simply pays Rp. 100,000 per package.

There are also sales of retail commodities, namely 4 kilograms of rice at a price of IDR 50,000, 2 liters of cooking oil at a price of IDR 25,000, and kilograms of sugar at a price of IDR 15,000.
